Twisted pair is divided into Shielded Twisted Pair and Unshielded Twisted Pair. The so-called shielding twisted pair(STP) means that the signal line inside the network cable is wrapped with a layer of metal mesh, and the outer layer of the shielding layer is the insulation sheath. The shielding layer can effectively isolate the interference of external electromagnetic signals. STP cable can prevent electromagnetic radiation only when the complete end-to-end links are completely shielded and properly grounded. Unshielded Twisted Pair(UTP) is a kind of network cable with high frequency in LAN. It is suitable for 10Base-T, 100Base-T, 100base TX star topology network.
It refers to a cable with two concentric conductors, and the conductor and shield share the same axis. It can well block the external electromagnetic interference and improve the communication quality.
Optical fiber transmits signal in the form of light pulse, so the material is mainly glass or plexiglass, which is composed of fiber core, cladding and protective sleeve.
